Short notes and a sketch during visit at Sale community about an area with high congregation and vandalism due to lack of cctv, excess amount of parking lot, and sociability of residents that share gardens and residents with private gardens.

Quick sketch during the visit at Sale community on the basic materials of the local housing, which is pretty much just the ordinary style with bricks and glass.

An open gym to encourage more social interaction but gives an opposite impact due to the unattractive design according to the residents.

Visited Sale towards the end of the first week. This is a picture that I took outside the tram station. My friends and I had to ask for directions but people were all very helpful and friendly which gives a great impression of the town to us.

At the beginning of understanding the idea of neighborhood, we had to analyze images that are given in groups, in terms of sustainability of infrastructure such as drainage systems, ecological structures, relationship between car-pedestrians, environmental impact and use of materiald

We were split in groups at the beginning of the project and each group is assigned with a topic. Our ideas of the project focus on the principle of sustainability. We chose this site out of the whole community to base our proposal on. This is because it contains a large green space with only 1 cctv in the centre which allows lots of vandalisms and crimes from young people. Also the alleyways provide the opportunity for people to run off when they get caught.

This is a sketch of the existing alleyway in Sale west community, where we visited on the first week of event, to gain more understanding towards the site as well as the term neighborhood.

(final proposal) This is a perspective that shows the distribution of pavements and defensing plants in front of the houses to increase privacy.

This shows our proposal of changing the distribution of greenland and pavements. There are two seating areas for friendly congregations as well as to increase the sense of safety for people to hang out due to the existing amount of vandalism and crimes. Pavements are well connected and provide a more park-like design.

(final proposal) This is the perspective of the seating area with shelter of our proposal. The seating area sits in the middle of a large green land, which allows residents to interact and gives a more pleasant environment to the area. It also shows the idea of crazy paving instead of ordinary paving method. Yellow is used instead of green to create a more friendly image.
