Group 12 { The Humble Brick }

Design and build and installation from bricks

Atelier: Continuity in Architecture

The second meeting with the clients to present the two designs to them. They responded well to both ideas and appeared to really like elements of both. They asked us to combine them and provided suggestions as two which elements they wanted us to keep.

Working in groups to consolidate ideas into two final designs that we could present to the client. An integrated design in which the pizza oven workspace and seating were combine and a non integrated design in which all elements were separate.

A design developed based upon a concept discussed in a group of four after meeting with the client. One of the several developed and presented to the group as initial ideas for the design of the pizza oven.

First meeting with the client on site at Hulme Community Garden to discuss their requirements for the project. They wanted a curvy, organic structure that included other natural materials that could be found on site to create tactile surfaces. The structure should have seating for up to 15 people, sufficient counter top space and be able to accommodate children.

2000 bricks donated by Ibstock, delivered on site to be used in the construction of the pizza oven. Upon inspection it was found the bricks contained groves that could be engineered to create a pattern when they are laid. The aesthetic of the brick will make the structure look more natural on the site.
