T' end was nigh! Finally we displayed our work to the rest of the group, other peers, and to the people who had first helped us cultivate ideas surrounding this event. The space was transformed into a pirates lair, with our jewels placed within it. It was an opportunity to reflect and explain our findings, as well as receiving feedback.

Visited Sale towards the end of the first week. This is a picture that I took outside the tram station. My friends and I had to ask for directions but people were all very helpful and friendly which gives a great impression of the town to us.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:55
T' final outcome! Our group brought our vision together. We isolated our sites on the map, making them more prominent whilst the other parts of the city remained vague. We indicated through pink pins where the chains were, whilst blue pins determined our sites positions, and white pins marked our route. We chose to only label the road names that our route across the city took. For us, this path was the only one to take if you wanted to find the hidden gems within the city, and therefore it was inconsequential to record any other.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:53
At the beginning of understanding the idea of neighborhood, we had to analyze images that are given in groups, in terms of sustainability of infrastructure such as drainage systems, ecological structures, relationship between car-pedestrians, environmental impact and use of materiald

after a whole day of hard work. from removing the soil to cleaning and finally to flattening the ground up and adding the stones. teamwork!
Posted 16 May 2014 17:39
We each had personal vision regarding our site, despite having an overall theme that linked them together. I was particularly interested in why only expensive cars were parked on the top floor of the Great Northern Railway Company car park site; the sense of security seemed to be key. I began modelling the ascent taken by these drivers to their prime parking spot.

We were split in groups at the beginning of the project and each group is assigned with a topic. Our ideas of the project focus on the principle of sustainability. We chose this site out of the whole community to base our proposal on. This is because it contains a large green space with only 1 cctv in the centre which allows lots of vandalisms and crimes from young people. Also the alleyways provide the opportunity for people to run off when they get caught.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:17
Everyone had to come up with a design concept for a furniture, my design idea was to create a multi-purpose furniture which would also provide your own privacy space.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:14
First session brainstorm.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:12
This is a sketch of the existing alleyway in Sale west community, where we visited on the first week of event, to gain more understanding towards the site as well as the term neighborhood.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:10
We had presented our idea to our mentor. We discuss about reason of making the park and the difference between Chinese and western gardens. After the discussion and research, we had decide to put a water fountain into the park as it is an important feature for Chinese garden. The picture shows the proposed circulation of the park

Oops! Missed a day - forgot that on the morning of Archontia's workshop we again filmed, photographed, sketched, and interviewed people on site in real life situations!

Week 2: Re-claiming wood.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:10
(final proposal) This is a perspective that shows the distribution of pavements and defensing plants in front of the houses to increase privacy.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:06
This shows our proposal of changing the distribution of greenland and pavements. There are two seating areas for friendly congregations as well as to increase the sense of safety for people to hang out due to the existing amount of vandalism and crimes. Pavements are well connected and provide a more park-like design.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:03
The next session was a creative writing workshop in Chatham, however an unfortunately timed visit to the US Embassy in London meant that sadly I missed this workshop day. However, I did write the storyboard for my now ANIMATED comic idea - to be interspersed with real film - for the exhibition on Monday 19th.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:02
After supplying Eric with our data (property pricing) the pervious day, we had the first visual of the final application the next day with the data represented in 3d- images. Different sizes of spheres on the image represents different property worth.
Posted 16 May 2014 17:00
So I'm not that good at drawing people in Manga style okay... However, I did have to write a comic book about this so I must plod on!
Posted 16 May 2014 16:58
(final proposal) This is the perspective of the seating area with shelter of our proposal. The seating area sits in the middle of a large green land, which allows residents to interact and gives a more pleasant environment to the area. It also shows the idea of crazy paving instead of ordinary paving method. Yellow is used instead of green to create a more friendly image.

You're not a man, you're just a mannequin:

Today we learnt comic book/sketching skills with Archontia from MSA_Praxis. (I also chatted with her quite in depth about her atelier, but that's a different story.) However, sketching little wooden mannequins in no fun when there are real people in the room sketching mannequins to sketch. So I sketched the people instead. However, these were then to be developed into a comic much like Archontia's amazing portfolio work,. Results to follow.

DAY 7 // We asked members of the public to assemble our shelters. One of the designs was really easy and they did not need any help, however the other two we had to step in and give them a hand on how to construct the shelters.
