Beginning to edit my film using Movie Maker. Filtering through and collating all of my footage to express and translate my theme.

Development of my Comic Strip, based around real individuals at Shudehill Interchange and how they interacted.

My comic character, 'Ste', based upon interviews and interactions with real people at Shudehill Interchange.

We Interviewed people in and around Shudehill interchange to build an understanding of the site through those using it. Questions I posed included 'Why are you here?' and 'Do you think this is a place where people interact?'. Responses were overwhelmingly negative; Members of the public viewed each other as 'peculiar' and 'rude'.

Recording footage in and around Piccadilly Gardens to create short films that reflect a chosen theme; mine was occupation. What makes people occupy this space and how do they go about it?

Urban Sketching at the Manchester Central Library

Oops! Missed a day - forgot that on the morning of Archontia's workshop we again filmed, photographed, sketched, and interviewed people on site in real life situations!

The next session was a creative writing workshop in Chatham, however an unfortunately timed visit to the US Embassy in London meant that sadly I missed this workshop day. However, I did write the storyboard for my now ANIMATED comic idea - to be interspersed with real film - for the exhibition on Monday 19th.

So I'm not that good at drawing people in Manga style okay... However, I did have to write a comic book about this so I must plod on!

You're not a man, you're just a mannequin:

Today we learnt comic book/sketching skills with Archontia from MSA_Praxis. (I also chatted with her quite in depth about her atelier, but that's a different story.) However, sketching little wooden mannequins in no fun when there are real people in the room sketching mannequins to sketch. So I sketched the people instead. However, these were then to be developed into a comic much like Archontia's amazing portfolio work,. Results to follow.

Learn to love Premiere Pro (Or not...) Regardless of your relationship status with Adobe's editing software, today we spent some time in a media suite in Chatham collating our videos and editing them into our own mini documentaries. Next tram to media city please!

Let's film! The second day saw us film in Piccadilly Gardens, which was quite fascinating; this really allowed me to capture people in everyday circumstance, moving through transient space.

The first day of events saw us sketching with Simone Ridyard and the Urban Sketchers at Manchester Library After giving us a talk in the morning, Simone set us free to wreak havoc in the library and observe, watch, and absorb the activities happening there. Here I explored my fascination with people and the way that they interact with space; I find this particularly exciting!

Day 05 - 07/05/2014 : Creative Writing

Second sketch of the city centre - Market Street. The volume of people is much higher and movement of people dominates the image, buildings and structures are forced into the background, much how a shopper thinks.

Drawing a comic book using Northern Quarter as an inspiration. I'm trying to combine pictures of different sites with the comic book drawings.
The story is inspired my the people we met during this event.

I finalized my idea for my final output and started working on it after the last workshop session on the sixth day. I completed some design drawings of the characters and started working on a short comedic narrative comic detailing a cartoon bears struggles gathering site analysis information.

For the fifth day we did creative writing. From the storyboards i devised the previous day i split the structure into 3 parts to make it more concise and finalized a story idea for my final output.

Day 03 we edited the footage and created videos. I based mine upon movement - human and transport.

Day 02 We went filming around Manchester in order to create a video based upon a theme we chose.

On the fourth day we started looking at how to do comic narratives and character design. That morning we went to the Shudehill Interchange and interviewed people to get ideas for narratives and i basically storyboarded how that went for me and designed cartoon versions of the interviewees.

We went around NQ speaking with people who work or live there. After lunch we had lecture about comic making and we had to draw a comic inspired by people we met that day.

Spent the day filming people in Market Street. Working on the video for the final output.

On the third day we were editing. The majority of the footage i used was from the filming but i did download some videos online for transitions between points of focus.

On the second day we went filming and i focused on seeing how people interact with spaces and how that use changes the space.
